Informational Purposes Only
The tools and content provided on RegexMate are for informational and educational purposes. Regex matching results, capture group listings, railroad diagram renderings, cheat sheet entries and ReDoS risk assessments are aids to understanding — not certified guarantees of behavior in any specific production environment.
Regex Flavors Differ
Regular expression implementations vary across languages and tools — JavaScript, Python, PCRE, Java, Go, grep and others each have their own feature sets and edge-case behavior. A pattern that behaves one way here may behave differently in your target engine, particularly around lookbehind, Unicode classes and backreference semantics. Always verify critical patterns against the environment where they will run.
ReDoS Assessments Are Heuristic
Our backtracking guard statically flags known-dangerous constructs and measures execution time on the input you provide. It cannot prove a pattern safe — patterns that pass the guard may still exhibit pathological behavior on different input. Use it as a warning light, not a safety certificate.
